چکیده
ABSTRACT The objective was to evaluate the intake and digestibility of nutrients, ingestive behavior, performance goats fed with spineless cactus genotypes resistant carmine cochineal (Miúda or Orelha de Elefante Mexicana (OEM). Thirty castrated male goats, without defined breed, aged 12 14 months, an average body weight 19.0±2.8kg, were distributed in a completely randomized design among three treatments (Control - Tifton hay, Miúda, OEM) ten replicates; initial considered as covariate. organic matter (OM), neutral detergent fiber (NDF) highest control treatment, while NFC higher OEM diet. Treatments containing forage showed DM, OM, NFC. animals diet spent more time on rumination total chewing, but feeding efficiency, did not differ. use Mexicana) for amount 450g/kg DM does interfere improves OM

Nutrient intake and digestibility of berseem clover (Trifolium alexandrium), lucerne (Medicago Sativa) and oats (Avena sativa) as winter fodders were fed to female goats (n = 45, age = 720 days, body weight = 32 kg) and sheep (n = 45, age = 690 days, body weight = 32 kg). Intakes of dry matter (DM), crude protein (CP), neutral detergent fibre (NDF), acid detergent fibre (ADF), and gross energy ...
متن کاملDry Matter Intake and Digestibility in Weast African Dwarf Goats Fed Raw or Processed Pigeon Pea (Cajanus Cajan) Seed
Four West African Dwarf (WAD) grower bucks averaging 6 kg in weight and aged between 5-6 months of age were used in a digestive trial to determine the intake and digestibility of raw or processed pigeon pea seed meal based diets. The diets designated RPBD, SPBD, TPBD and BPBD were formulated from cassava peel, palm kernel cake, brewers dry grain, bone meal and common salt to contain 15% of raw,...
متن کاملVoluntary intake and digestibility of teff hay fed to horses.
The objective of this study was to evaluate nutrient composition, voluntary DMI, and apparent DM digestibility of teff hay cut at 3 different stages of maturity to evaluate its potential as a preserved forage for horses. Six mature Quarter Horse mares (12 +/- 3 yr; 553 +/- 39 kg of BW) were used in a replicated balanced Latin square design with 3 periods and 3 maturities of teff hay. Eragrostis...
متن کاملCarcass characteristics of lambs fed spineless cactus as a replacement for sugarcane
OBJECTIVE Fresh sugarcane has been a new roughage source for ruminant's in semiarid regions, a function of the decline of sugar and alcohol industry in recent years. However, there is little data published regarding lambs fed sugarcane associated with spineless cactus. This study evaluated the effect of sugarcane replacement with spineless cactus (0%, 33%, 66%, and 100%) in the diet of Santa In...
